- The Swagga Jumpers Time 2 jump Rope Training Program
Was designed in 2009 for school aged, youth, and adults. The primary mission of the program promotes health and wellness, personal development, academic and cultural enrichment, cooperative learning, leadership skills, and achievement through performance. Cross age mentoring is a major feature of the program as well.
Ms. K has a strong passion for the sport of Double-Dutch. She has been a five-time New York State Champion, PSAL Double Dutch Coach of Benjamin Banneker High School and has experience as a PSAL Official and Junior Olympic Double Dutch Trainer. Featured media appearances include the Jump! on Lifetime Television. On the late night comedy show Robin Thede she showed off her true talent for Double Dutch with a touch of acting. Mrs. K’s students were recently in the background performing Double Dutch as part of the forthcoming movie, New Heights. They are also known for their appearance in Hammer The Bear w/ Chris Rock.
Ms. K first began teaching Double Dutch in the Brownsville Brooklyn community at the local Salvation Army in 2001. She knows how important it is to keep young girls and women engaged in physical activity and the benefits of providing quality programming where it is really needed During her 20 plus years of coaching, Ms. K has reached 1000's of children and their families’ and greatly impacted their lives. According to Ms. K, “there is no greater feeling than when someone says “I don't know how to jump! " Within a few minutes they are smiling from ear to ear with excitement because they got it along with gaining confidence. Ms. K has implemented her Time 2 jump Double Dutch program in schools throughout Brooklyn the Bronx and Harlem. She is currently training over 100’s of young girls and boys in the sport of Double Dutch. Most of these girls and boys have now become members of the American Double Dutch League and the hope was to get Time2Jump in schools across the nation and worldwide. Currently we now successfully serve 11 schools throughout Brooklyn , starting the 1st Chain Of Double Dutch Jumpers In history.
Ms. Ks Swagga Jumpers and recently captured a world title award from the International Double Dutch League. The groups bring excitement each year to the competitive National Double Dutch League event at the Apollo Theater and the annual events presented by the American Double Dutch League. Her teams are also featured in the popular animated series Little Apple which recently won Best Animated Feature at the African American Film Festival and The award winning short proclamation Fifty Four Eleven. Swagga Jumper demonstrations have been featured at Many Block parties and festivals such as the Labor Day Parade marching alongside with council woman Laurie Cumbo, National Night Out with the 77th precinct @ restoration plaza, Brooklyn Hip-Hop Parade, Fashion Week Opening Ceremony and many more. Collaborating with many different programs and organizations together has generated many successful workshops and demonstrations for youth and adults which continue to promote the sport and keep it alive.
